• A place needs no explanation

I was doing laundry very late, so I went to the common area. I saw that it was still accessible, I could get in, and there were no signs showing the opening hours. I brought my Kindle, planning to read there. First, I went to the washroom to wash my hands because I had just thrown away the garbage. Then I explored the common area. I saw no one there. I turned on the TV, but it turned out that you needed to sign in to your own streaming platform account to watch anything, so I turned it off. I we

• Me Neither

Yesterday after class, I went to switch my internet provider. After that, I didn’t really want to go straight home. I didn’t want to go too far either. I just wanted to wander around for a little while and keep my body moving. I thought that might make me a little happier than going directly home. There weren’t that many places nearby, so I ended up at Indigo. I don’t even like Indigo that much. I wasn’t really looking for a book either. I think I just wanted to walk around and look at things. • It’s been a while since winter

It’s been a while since I last walked into an indie cinema. A while, too, since I last gave myself over to the purity of art. Lately, I’ve felt that something has been missing from my life. Something soulful, maybe. Something that once felt quietly, unmistakably mine. I’ve been busy, with all the things I’m supposed to be busy with. Only after a dream last night did I realize how much time had slipped by. It’s been a while since winter, too.

• I Removed My Now Page

My updates stopped last October. I feel that my present is no longer the present. My now may have already become the past. Or perhaps I don’t need to explain it. This is my boundary with the present. In the past, my now was many people’s now. But it wasn’t only mine. I got lost in other people’s present, and couldn’t even tell whose now it was. So now, I want to remove my now page — a page that promotes the present — to express how I think about “now.” At this very moment, I am digesting all the

• Columbia Circle

I lived in a neighborhood called Columbia Circle. I didn’t know the city. The street was quiet. There were trees, and small houses. There were many coffee shops. Too many. People sat there like they had nowhere else to go. Sometimes I stayed there alone. You could always see a few people like that. At the next table, people talked a lot. Their voices sounded confident, like they knew where they were going. I felt lucky I didn’t have to join. That place felt gentle. Familiar, but never really min

• "French delivery men"

Today I had a phone call with my Best Buy package delivery, and it was honestly so hard to understand what he was saying. His English was really bad, and my French is just as bad. He was speaking really loudly and a bit roughly, maybe even a little rude, but I could tell it wasn’t his fault. I was trying so hard to understand him, and he was also trying his best to make me understand. He spoke slowly and loudly in English, and first he asked if I was at home. Obviously, I wasn’t, I was outside.

• Lost in Seoul

As Christmas approaches, I always feel this strange anticipation—like I'm supposed to shed all the unpleasant things, all the negative feelings. But is that fair? Is it too much to ask of a single day? Maybe it's the stories we tell ourselves about this season that make everything feel more significant—the emotions sharper, the moments more memorable. But why? I was in Seoul during the Christmas season. Everything felt so fresh and new, though the city wasn't as festive as I'd imagined. Unlike S

• What Happens Here, Stays Here

I've been away from Shanghai for a long time now. In the beginning, I didn't feel like I'd really left, it was just a temporary absence, like I could go back anytime. But now it feels different. What happened there stays there. The memories, the streets, the moments, they belong to that place, to that time. Shanghai has become something I can revisit in my mind but can't quite touch anymore. It's like the city and I have quietly agreed to let go. Sometimes, in quiet moments, I wonder if Shanghai
